Ist Member for Frederiksted Town (Coulter) would like to know who, at present, is the Chairman of the Munici- pal Committee? 2nd Member for Christiansted Town (Canegata}* -answered: 4th Appointed Memb>r (Blackwood). The Munici- pal Committee has just been elected by the Council:: The old Committee existed up to 12 o’cloek today when it finished its Jast work. At 4.55 the Council re-assembled and the Chairman remarked: The Municipal Committee met during the recess and you will hear their report through the Chairman. 2nd Member for Christiansted Tewn (Canegata) remarked: Mr. Chairman. As Chairman of the Municipal Commit- teeI wish to state that the Committee finds the time too short to give decision on the budget. We have asked Govern- ment to meet with us tomorrow, after which wewillsend in our recommenda- tions. e The Chairman remarked: Government has called a meeting for 14 days from today at which time the budget will be introduced with the Municipal Commit- tee’s . recommendation. Jt is entirely left- with the Council as to whether the Budget Committee will be reappointed. Ihe Budget Committee expended a good deal of time on the budget, and even at that ‘we have not been able to have our report ready sc as to have the budget in troduced today. 2nd Appoited Member (Noll) remark- ed: Mr. Chairman. 1 have been a member of the Budget Committee, but did not do much work. It strikes me that three members jof the Municipal Committee are members of the Budget Committee and they are acauainted with | the plans of the Committee; therefore 1 see noTreason for putting off for fourteen days. s The Chairman remarke’:.
