UVI Honors Program Pre-Honors/ Honors Program 4-year Plan: Semester 1 (fall, year 1): Pre-honors  Complete the HON 101 course with a grade of B or better  Participate in weekly meetings with pre-honors participants to identify, research, and report on a proposed action platform to serve as the group’s 4 year theme and outreach plan.  Examples of plausible action platforms include:  Natural disasters (hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires)  Pollution (air, water)  Endangered species (plant, animal, marine)  Goals: sponsor monthly speakers and debates as well as an end-of– semester newsletter to fea- ture the group’s action platform Semester 2 (spring, year 1): Pre-honors  Complete the HON 201 course with a grade of B or better  Submit an official application for entrance into the Honors Program  Participate in bi-weekly meetings with pre-honors participants for organized discussions, lectures, and debates on the action platform (plan fund-raising activities)  Goals: Showcase action platform through a week-long of honors activities, “The Honors Experience”  Induction Ceremony …

Semester 7 and 8 (fall and spring year 4): Honors  Participate in weekly meetings with honors participants for organized discussions, lectures and debates on the action platform  Goals: Complete and satisfactorily defend a Honors thesis or project (HON 401).
