ACTNO. 8463 BILL NO. 34-0037 THIRTY-FOURTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2021 An Act amending title 15 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 3, section 89, subsections (b) and (c) relating to decedents’ estates and payment of certain debts without administration to increase the aggregate amount that a surviving spouse may receive from debtors upon the death of the creditor and to increase the amount of debt a debtor must pay the survivors of a decedent creditor not less than thirty days after the creditor’s death from not more than $5,000 to not more than $10,000 a--0--- Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: SECTION 1. Title 15 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 3, section 89 is amended in the section heading by inserting “‘and funeral expense” after “debts” and in subsection (b) and subsection (c) by striking “$5,000” and inserting “$10,000”. SECTION 2. (a) Act No. 7149 § 21 is repealed. (b) Act No. 6003 § 2 is repealed.” Thus passed by the Legislature of the Virgin Istands on August 3, 2021. …
