Zebdee Effendi a Turkish rug mer- chant who arrived from Smyrna on the liner said that he saw the mouster quite plainly as he was erossing the bay to his home on one of the islands. Its beam across the middle of the back, which rose high out of the water was fifteen feet, and the length overall was fillyfifty feet.
