The President ot the United States and the Governor of the Virgin Islands have in proclamation enjoined two minutes of prayer at noon on Friday, November 11, 1921, Armistice Day. The Lutheran Church will be open from 11.30, for a service of somg and Scripture readings. (PERSONAL MENTION). Among the passengers booked to leave the United States on Nov. 10th. per S. S. Guiana, is Mrs. Anna Fraser, widow of the late John E. Fraser. Mrs. Fraser left St. Croix about thirty five years ago, and has lived in these United States establishing herself as a dean of the Virgin Island workers and a lady of whom the inhabitants of the is- lands should be especially proud. The darker side of life invaded her bhome when her husband was stricken blind. It was then that the courage of a per- feet woman asserted itself. Through many a knee-deep snowstorm has she travelled, facing the worst hard- ships in an honest endeavor to keep the wolves from the door. Death invaded her home last Noiem- ber and took away the husband she loved and adored. And now she returns to St. Croix to see the last of her kin, and to try if pos- sible to regain her health. Mrs. Fraser is the sister of Miss Alice Furey of Christiansted. Her husband Jobhn E. Fraser (deceas- ed) left the islands as a boy, served in the U. S. Army and rose tot e rank of captain, and until his death was a pro- minent factor among Vivgin Islanuv here. —Contributed. POPULAR VIRGIN ISLANDER ELECTED TO OFFIGE. At a recent election held by the Pull- man Porters’ Benefit Association Mr Ash- ley Totten was elected President of the District of New York. This large organization has its head- quarters in Chicago, where sick, death . and acciuent benefits are paid to over nine thousand of its members. It hasa capital of $300,000 and pays a death benefit of SI,OOO to each of its membe 's. It has the moral support of the Rail- road and Pullman Co. Mr. Totten is the youngest officer in the Association, and as President of one of the largest districts, he has a fine opportunity for still further advance- ment.— Contributed. -
