Romanita fron; San Juan via Saint Thomas to Christiansted wiil be farward- ed by the s. s. Catherine on a :imilar schedule with the exeception that the steamer will not ecall at this port. The mail will be transported by land from I'vederiksted and will in all probability aften be received here as late as 5.09 p. m. for which reason only the first class matter will be distributed and delivered the same evening. Perishable matter received outside will also be delivered if called for before delivery is concluded. As usual it will be our aim to give the best and most complete service and pub- lic cooperation will do muech to aid this along the following lines: by securing postage s.amps, registration and money orders before the mail airives so that our attention shall not be divided between distribation of mail and handline of routine work. ‘This of course applies only to when the mail arrives before the closing hour on Saturday, as positively no other business will be attended to excent the di~aitbution and delivery of mail 1f it arrives after the closing hour. Requests o serviee not open to the gen- eral public will not be granted indivi- duals as a matter of course, and they sre not anticipated. The delivery of perish- able mail will invariably be made at the back of the effice, but patrons are not admitted to the workrcom. The Postal Laws forbid unauthorized persons being in the workrooms of post offices when matl is being opened, and those who make 1t a practice of using the back en- trance to the office will kindly understand this. Clearly if one or two or more per- sons may be admitted into the workroom and expedited there for their special cenvenience the whole public mav be admitted which would be manifestly iwregular. The demand for service on Sunday morning has reached the point where it has become a burden to us and actually impairs eificieney in making lup the outgoing wail for which purpose we are on daty on Sunday wmoraing, and hereafter no business whatever which calls for the immediate service of a cierk will be transacted. The mail bax at the en‘rance to the office is cieared latest 9.45 a. m. Sunday, and the drops inside to the moment the mail is actually dis- patched from the office. It will, there- fore, not be necessary to inquire whether mail may be deposited in these drops. B. R.
