Lord Riddell said the papers were constantly reproached by Dominion residents in Great Britain because they did not carry more Cana- dian or Australian news. London, Jan. 11th. —Alleged Sinn Fein centres in this city were subjected to simultaneous raids by Scotland Yard detectives late last nlght, says the ““DailyGraphiz’". Buildings in both the east and west end, notably in Bayswater, Barnsbury, Paddington, Eastham and Hanwell, were raided, and a number of important documents were seized. Lo- ca! importance is attached to a raid on a four story house in Cclville Terrace, Bayswater, which was thoroughly search- ed for hours. London, Jan. 20th —Discussing the appointment of Mr. Churchill as Colonial Secretary, the '‘Times’’ says that while he has made mistakes, the dominion would sooner have 2 man of Impetuosity and energy at the Colonial Office, than the tpye of politician who eannot men- tion the empire with lapsing into prosy platitudes. the ‘‘Times’ however sug- gests that Mr. Churchill should have far more recent knowledge of the Dominions than he now possesses, and says a flying visit to the Dominions, preferably before the Dominien Premiers meet here in June, wouid@ be of value to him. The “Times’’ adds* that if at the June meet- ing. the Dominion Premiers show a de- cided preference for having the formal charge of the affairs of their country in London taken frem the Colonial Office, there is little doubt that their views in the matter will be met.
