I 105TH CONGRESS 2D SESSION H. R. 4313 To amend the Revised Organic Act of the Virgin Islands to provide that the number of members on the legislature of the Virgin Islands and the number of such members constituting a quorum shall be determined by the laws of the Virgin Islands. IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES JULY 23, 1998 Ms. CHRISTIAN-GREEN introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Resources A BILL To amend the Revised Organic Act of the Virgin Islands to provide that the number of members on the legislature of the Virgin Islands and the number of such members constituting a quorum shall be determined by the laws of the Virgin Islands. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- 1 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2 SECTION 1. SIZE AND QUORUM OF LEGISLATURE DETER- 3 MINED BY LAWS OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS. 4 (a) SIZE OF LEGISLATURE.—Section 5(b) of the Re- 5 vised Organic Act of the Virgin Islands (48 U.S.C. 6 1571(b)) is amended— 7 2 •HR 4313 IH (1) by striking ‘‘fifteen’’; and 1 (2) by inserting after the first sentence the fol- 2 lowing: ‘‘The number of such senators shall be de- 3 termined by the laws of the Virgin Islands.’’. 4 (b) NUMBER CONSTITUTING QUORUM.—The first 5 sentence of section 9(a) of the Revised Organic Act of the 6 Virgin Islands (48 U.S.C. 1575(a)) is amended to read 7 as follows: ‘‘The number of members of the legislature 8 needed to constitute a quorum shall be determined by the 9 laws of the Virgin Islands.’’. 10 Æ
