Youth Ocean Explorers Summary of Activities Swimming Lessons for beginners and snorkeling opportunities both in St. Thomas and St. John. Kayaking at Mangrove Lagoon (St. Thomas East End Reserves) to observe the largest standing mangrove forest on St. Thomas. Conducting scientific research alongside UVI research faculty and staff. Hiking through the Magens Bay trail as well as in St. John. Learning about endangered species such as sea turtles by visiting Turtle Cove, St. Thomas. Presentations given by UVI research faculty on a myriad of topics such as: Mangrove forests, Coral reefs, Endangered species, Fish identification, and Conducting scientific experiments. Students will get to interact and hear from professionals within the Virgin Islands who have careers in a marine-related field (Fish and Wildlife, National Park Service, and many others).
