ACT NO.643 2 BILL NO. 24-0111 TWENTY-FOURTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS OF THE UNITED STATES Regular Session 2001 To approve the projects to be funded with a $2,189,000 Community Development Block Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development ---0--- WHEREAS, by letter dated May 2, 2001, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) invited the Government of the Virgin Islands to apply for a $2,189,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), the deadline for submission of this application being July 31, 2001; and WHEREAS, being the department responsible for the administration of the CDBG, the Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) has solicited and received 89 proposals from government and non-government agencies to be considered for funding from this grant, with these proposals totaling $13,403,219; and WHEREAS, DPNR has reviewed and evaluated these proposals in accordance with federal regulations, and their need and feasibility impact, and have made recommendations to the Governor of those to be funded in accordance with federal …
