Paris, June 6th.— A despatch to the “"Temps’’ from Rome states that an agri- cultural strike has taken place in the pro- vince of Bari, giving rise to numerous incidents. At Spinazzola the workmen jJoined the peasants and declared a gen- eral strike. The. Carabinieri were com- pelled to intervene for the rescue of a land-owner who was attacked by the strikers, and the correspondent of the “‘Giornale D’ltalia’’ was killed by a gun- shot by the force, not being recognized as being on the side of order. In con- sequence of these events, a general strike has been proclaimed in various im- portant centres, causing collisions be- tween the strikers and the Carabanieri. Krassin, the chief of the Soviet trade delegation, and that Lord Curzon and Mr. Churchill arz firmly opposed to «the resumption of commercial relations. Berlin,June 7th.—The elections are pro- ceeding without incident and processions by the Socialists and independents have taken place in complete order. The records show about twenty-five per cent abstainers from voting. The Majcrity Socialists are leading at Mainz, Offen- bach, Duremberg and Frankfort, the Independents have a majority at Halle and north Berlin and the Moderate Con- servatives lead at Darmstadt, Wiesbaden and Worms. , Athens, June Tth.—M. Venizelos has left for Paris. - Constantinople, June 7¢h.—The com- mittee charged with the drafting of the reply to the treaty of peace is actively pursuing its task, and the Grand Vizie expects to leave for Paris this week, taking the reply with him.
