We had the opportunity of wit- Lessing the unloading of some cattle brought from Tortola in this fashion: one of the poor ecreatures was so stiff and eramped that it could not walk when put ashore. It oceurred to us that there is more than one kind of prohibition that will do this place good, for one, brohibition against importation of cattle under inhumane conditions. Among the many persons of note who have recently been the guests of the the Commanding Officer, Captain F. D. Creamer and Mrs. Creamer at the Ma rine Barracks, »t. Croix was Command- er . M. Perkins, iflcet Gunnery Officer witha large party whico came in big Navy Sea-planes Saturday. Commander Perkins was Gunnery Offi- cer for Governor Phillip Willlams while he commanded the Dreadnought U. S. S. Sennessee, because of the Governor’s in- terest in St. Croix he wanted Command- er Perkins te visit here. Commander Perkins has kad a long and distinguished career in the Navy. It was on bis ship the U. 8. S. George Washington that President and Mrs. Wil- son went to Eurone during the war. The King and Queen of the Belgians and other famuos personages were subse- quently passengers on lus ship.
