Ir vas learned tonight that James O’ Grady, Labour member for the Southeast Division of Leeds had accepted an offer of the Ambassadorship to Russia. Proof that recognition of the Russian Government will cyme early was afforded when the Secretary of the South l.eeds Labour Party announced that he had received news that Mr. O’Grady who represents that constitvency in Partiament, had agreed to take the Ambussadorship. This appointment naturallv cannot te officiallyannounced before the necessary formalities are observed in conne<ton with recognition an‘' securiog the dovi- et’s approval, to the appointment of Mr. O'Grady. It will, howevar, become known othrough Mr. O’Grady resigning his parliamentary seat, whnich vacancy will provide a seai for ooe of the pew Ministers not a number at ihe present time. The managers of the rail- way announced tonight that they would not reply to a letter sent them today by Mr. Brooley Secretary of the Associated Society, informing them that the regret- ted that the sirike must coutioue. There is a fundamental difference of principle between the association sociesy and the railway Managers, regarding the finding of the wages board tromwhica the man- agers refuse to depari, although they as gert that they would consider cases of in- dividua! hardship among the men if the strike were called off. CROIX STATION London, Jan. 24th.—Lord Colwyn, Chairman of the Lancashire and Yoik- shire Bank, declared yesterday that tle bar.kers of Great Britain would do all in tnheir power to render assistance tothe new yovernment, ne matter what personal or political views they held. Lord Colwyn mace this declaration at the annual meet ing of the bauk. Bombay, Jan. 24th.—A Madras news paper prints a message from Mr. Ram- say Mac Donald, in which the Premier pleads for reason snd guodwill between India and Great Britain, and asserts that ‘'no party in Great Britain will be cowed by threats of force, or by poli- cies designed to bring the Government to a standstill. If any Indian sections continues the message, are under the de- lusion that this is not so. events will sadly disappoint them. The appoint- ment of Sir Sydney Olivier as head of the India Office is received with great satisfaction by Kuropeans and moder- ates generally. Athens, Jan. 24th.—A measure was iatroduced in the rational assembly last night declaring the Glucksburg dynasty the reigning house, forfeited. Owing to the turbulent scenes which this ac- tion provoked, the House was adjourned untilFriday without reaching a vote. The measure was presented by the Republi- can Leader after M.
