Frank Farino, the Brooklyn boy who had four stiches taken in hisheart yester day, i 3 reporied in a 22504 condition to day by Dr. James Downey of No. 381 Clinton Street, Brookiyn, the operating surgeon. SEVEN STITCHES IN HEART, YOUTH FIGHTS FOR LiFE Doctors Wao Dperated Say Patient Will Live With seven stitehes in his heart, Frank Farino, seveateen, 5538 Union street, Rrooklyn, 1s said by pnysicians at Holy Fa:mily Hospital, Dean street Brooklyn, to be on a fairway tp recovery. “ii'ne youth aceidentally stabbed hiinself with a stiletio-like knife while at work yesterday as = paper sorter for .Joseph Morrone on the city dock at Sixth street. Admitted to the Holy Family Hospital at 10 o’clock in the morning the surgeons immediately decided on an operation a3 the sole chance of saving his life. Forty minutes laier the youth was back in the ward. A Delicate Operation. The seven stitches had to be taken with the utmost care, the doctor plying the needle only when the organ was contracted, that is, at the end of each beat. Dr. James Downey performed the un- usual operation, with the assistance of Dr. Frank Leder and Dr. George Doyle. The three surgeons remained at Farino’s bedside until a late hour last night. They expressed confidence in the ultimate re- covery of their patient. The youngster’s wiil to recover is aid- ing the hospital authorities in the fight for life.
