To the Editor ‘‘The Herald.”’ Dear Sir:—Your note to my article pub- lished in Monday’s issue of “T'he Herald’ is indeed very amusing, and reminds > very much of the saying, viz:— ‘*A man convinced agcaiunst his will iz of the same opinion still.”’ It is a fact that three cases were insti- tuted against Wm. Hodge, and that the third was withdrawn. It is not for you to decide whether it was a good case or a bad case, or that there was ‘‘no case’’ at all; thar could only have been brought out when the case was heard, and moreover, the only right you would have in stating that there was ''no case’’ is if the case was thrown out through some ingenuity on your part as Attorney for Hodge, but bear in mind, it was NOLLE PROSEQUIL* not THROWN OUT. Butevenallowing that it was throwxn out, your duty was to be impartial and state the facts as they were known to you. Also remember that in commenting on cases in your paper you must act imbpar- tially as an EDITOR, and not as AT 'Ok- NEY for your client asin the cases of the People versus Wm. Hodge; also, in cases of ‘that nature it is The Peopie versus the Defendant, and nouv the Com- plaining witness versus the Defendant.
