THE VIRGIN ISLANDS POLICE DEPARTMENT “To Protect and Serve” Office of the Commissioner VIPD NEWS RELEASE - 120723-375 For Immediate Media Distribution December 7, 2023 Update: Second Suspect in Havensight Shooting Incident Arrested St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, Suzan N. Asad was arrested pursuant to an Arrest Warrant that was issued by the Magistrate of the United States Virgin Islands. This arrest was made in connection to the October 21, 2023, shooting incident in the Havensight area. Bail was set to $125,000.00 by order of the court pending her Advice of Rights hearing. On Saturday, October 21, 2023, citizens contacted 911 reporting several shots fired and a man down in the area of Havensight Pier. Responding officers arrived on the scene and observed an unresponsive, black male lying in the parking lot with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds about his body. Emergency Medical Technicians also arrived on the scene and checked the male for vitals, however concluded that the male did not have any signs of life. …

Asad was arrested pursuant to an Arrest Warrant that was issued by the Magistrate of the United States Virgin Islands. The male was positively identified as 31-year-old Cursim Hansen by his next of kin.
