GIBSON, Government Attorney, has filed in said Court its petizion of [ischeat in the above entitled cause, setting forth that one ROBERT O. Ofticial Publication lT is with much gratification that I inform the people of the Virgin Islands that The Honorable, 'lhe Secretary of the Navy, is sending an officer of the Civil Engineer Corps of high rank, to the Virgin Isl nds for the purpose of Investigating and reporting upon the means of providing a water supply for the towns of St. thomas, Christiansted and Frederiksted. It 1s expected that this officer will reach the Vir- gin Islands the latter part of the prasent month. The Honorable, The Secretary of the Navy, has also informed me that the Depariment of the Interior has agreed to send a Reclamation lEngineer to the virgin Islands te in- vestigate and report upon the possi- bility of water conservation for agricultural {)urposes, and that this engineer will probably arrive in the Virgin Islands the latter part of February. We have now the assurance that the problem of water for the Virgin Islands is about to receive the ex- pert investigation necessary to even- tual solution and in view of this, I earnestly urge that the people adopt an optimistic view as to what the future may hold for us.
