S currency and the reduc- tion n price on food from this and other causes, we find it bnt reasonable under the circumstances, that the present seale of wages brought about by the exchange situation and the high cost of living a couple years ago, be ad- justed. _ ; However, in order to enable the will- ing and efficient "sorker to earn a fair day’s wage, we the undersigned sugar concerns on and from August 22nd, will reacopt on our estates the schedule of task work embodied in the agreement of August 15th. 1917, worked out in co- operation with the Govertment, the la- borers and the planters, with the excep- tion, that the day’s task be based on 65 cents instead of B 0 cents {for 9 hours work. There, after much labor, the lord constructs a rude but strong hut, which he makes proof against the attack of wild beasts, where after some months the young l.ord Greystoke is born, a healthy, robust child. His mother succumbs to the wila life and expires and her husband is prostrated with grief. While absorbed in his sorrow, he is surprisad by a band of great anthropoid apes and killed by a bull ape. Before the ape can kill the young lord in the cradle, Kala, a she-ape whose child bas died, snatches the babe from the cradle and leaves in its place her own dead ape. She suckles the man-child and brings him up as her own chllld. He becomes one of the tribe of apes and is given the name of Tarzan, Tarzan of {:hngpgs and becomes a mighty hurter. Later, aiter many adventures, he returns to civilization..... But rather come yourself and see the many adventures of Tarzan in his jungle home.
