ACTNO, 784’ BILL NO. 31-0159 THIRTY-FIRST LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2016 An Act amending title 14 Virgin Islands Code, chapter | 13 relating to persons committing criminal acts while wearing body armour a--()--- Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: SECTION 1. Title 14 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 113, is amended by adding section 2258a that reads as follows; “§2258a. (a) Any person who wears body armour during the course of committing or attempting to commit a crime of violence, as defined in section 2258 (a) (2), upon conviction shall be imprisoned for not more than five years and fined not more than $5,000 or shall be both imprisoned and fined. (b) The penalties prescribed in subsection (a) are in addition to those prescribed for the commission of, or the attempt to commit a crime of violence, and the sentence under this section must be served consecutively to any other sentence imposed.” Thus passed by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands on February 26, 2016. …
