Cork Jany 14th.—The authorities at- tach zreat importance to the result of the raid on the alleged chief arsenal of the Cork first brigade of the republican army, ~f which the late Terence Mae- Sweeney, was the Commandant, accord- Thg to the Govt. officials. 2 Dublin des- patech on Thursday saild a woman erossing a field just outside Cork at- tracted the attention of the Military, and that investigafion showed that she had dropped a l.ewis gun. It was add- ed that a search ot the field revealed dugouts which contained riflesa and revolvers, quantity of ammunition and other explosives in addition to military equipment and certain papers. The po- lice and mi isary are still searching the place, are said to have unearthed an ex- traordinary collection of war muaterials, including Lewis guns and ammunition for them, riflies, revolvers, bombs and Irish Republican army uniforms gelig- nite, guncotton, megaphones, periscopes, gassinascks and mail-bags which hag been missing as a result of raids, and also a large quantity of correspondence, which it isanticipated will throw light on recent ambuscades and kidnapping. The Foreign Office wiil answer both the British and the United States note simultaneousiy. It is understood President Obregon has ordered a special investigation of the case in view of the large investment re- presented by the company.
