NEW PARCEL-POST CONVEWTION ABE- OTICE is hereby given that, under N the provisions of a new Parcel-Post Convention entered into between the United States and Denmavk, which is effective July 1. 1921, the weight li- mit for parcel-post packages exchang ed between the United States (including the Virgin Islands of the United States) and Denmark (inciuding the Faroe Is lands Grezenland, and Iceland,) Fas been fixed at 22 pounds. The convention also provides that the sender of a registered package is ent:- tled, in case of loss, lamage, or rifling thereof, to an indemnity equai to the amount of the actual loss incurred, not exceeding50 francs (approximately $9.65) for any one package. We have with us today our new Governor of the Virgin Islands, This is “his first visit to St. Croix and his first meeting with the Colonial Council of this Island. I am sure that I express the sentiments of all the Members, when I say that we are happy to have him with us, and that we regret that His "Excel- lency’s first visit to our islands has not been under better and more promising conditions than at present exists. We are still suffering from the effects of a prolonged drought, aqd rea, ing a small crop with very low prices. 'i'he general Prospect is not as pleasing as we would like it to be, 2nd the future does not look very promising. His Excellency in pri- vate conversation has informed me that he hopes to be with us for a few -days, let us hope that during that time, in spite of the not too favourable outlook and general conditions now prevailing, that in his goings to and fro throughout the island, he will take away with him when he leaves, such pieasant and con- genial remembrances of his visit, that he will desire to come back soon, and often, to be among us. : _ Governor Kittelle, on behalf of the members of this Ceuncil, and of the in- habitants of this Island, whom they re- present, I have the pleasure and the honour to extend to you a hearty wel- come, and to express the-hope thas your administration of the Government of these Islands will be successful, and for the welfare and prosperity of its inhabi- tants.
