January 9, 2023 Honorable Carla Joseph Chairperson, Committee on Government Operations, Veteran’s Affairs & Consumer Protection 35th Legislature of the Virgin Islands Capitol Building St. Thomas, VI 00802 RE: BILL NO. 35-0184 – VIGGO E. SEWER ROAD LEGISLATION Dear Senator Joseph: Thank you for the opportunity to review and comment on the proposed legislation to posthumously name Route 10 on St. John the “Viggo E. Sewer Road” and to appropriate $10,000 to the Department for the appropriate signage. Unfortunately, I am unavailable to attend the hearing due to previously scheduled engagements. The Department has no objections to the naming of the above-mentioned road in the name of Private Sewer. I believe naming roads after prominent Virgin Islanders serves to teach current and future generations of their significant contributions, both locally and abroad, and to perpetually honor them. While I cannot speak to the funding source, the amount appropriated for signage should be sufficient. Thank you again for the opportunity to review and comment on the proposed legislation. …
