Through the Junior Red Cross a bond is fortned between the children of this Island and the children of other parts of the world. This has already been evidenced by the sending of puablie libra- ries from the boys and girls of the United States to the boys and girls of the Virgin Islands. : ““How be a member?’’ Monday, January 17th, marks the be- ginning of the Fourth Roll Call in St. Croix. One week is being set aside to give ap-ortunity to every citizen of St. Croix to enroll. The island is being divided into distviets, and comunittees will be appointed to see that every house . is visited. Correspondence. “PEARL WHITE.”’ Lovers of the movies have now got what they were clamoring for, since the world renowned serial ‘‘The Exploits of Elaine’’ was shown in the Theatre some- time ago. Contributed. -St. Thomas News, A robbery was committedzlast night to the Butcher Stall of Mr. N. C. Petersen, when his desk was broken open, and a van containing cash taken, and papers strewn about. This morning the pan that was sugposed to contain the money was found in the sea. Arcund this vicin.ty is a lot of gam- bling. Policemen wake up! It iz with deep regret we have to chronicle the death of Mr. Joseph Barbeli, who died suddenly this morning at the age of 26. The deceased was well known and was .very courteous and had a very amicable disposition thru which he was liked by all his friends both old and young. He was employed at the U. S Navy Yard and wns faithful to his duties. He had completed his day’s work and was out in the evening with his friends when death took possession of him. On account of “his sudden death he was takeu to the hospital by the ambulance when an atopsy was periormed and afterwards taken to his home in Crystal
