MARINE ANIMALS LEARN TO SWIM JOE SESSION 1: JUNE 3 - 14, 2024 Here’s a synopsis of what we will cover: Refining students use of their hands and feet for swimming. Improving students Math skills while building swimming confidence. How to use and maintain snorkeling equipment . How to recognize an emergency and what to do in an emergency. STUDENT CHECKLIST Junior Ocean Explorers Session 1: Marine Zoology & Learn to Swim OBJECTIVE (LEARN TO SWIM): These lessons will focus on building students' confidence in the water, refine their swimming and snorkeling skills, and improve their awareness of water safety. 9am-11am 1:00pm - 4pm 11:30am - 12:30pm LUNCH TIME MARINE ANIMALS LEARN TO SWIM Wear clothing that can get wet and comfortable shoes like Crocs. This can include their provided rash guards. Reef safe sunscreen recommended . OBJECTIVE (MARINE ANIMALS): Students will learn how marine animals are classified, how to identify these animals, as well as observe their ecological significance in the USVI. Supporting a mangrove nursery in habitat restoration. Snorkel gear will be provided to students to use; students can utilize gear they own if preferred. Walk with a light snack and your filled reusable water bottle. Refillable water will be provided.
