She works at St. Jude's Children's Hospital and is a UVI alumna. • Feb 03 - Bryant Cameron from Boston University School of Medicine is Assistant Professor of Pharmacology and Psychiatry and will present a seminar on the placebo effect in B110 at 12pm • Feb 20 - Workshop: Completing summer and graduate applications in Marine Science Center on St. Thomas from 10am to 4pm. Bring a laptop and draft of your personal statement/essay. Dr. Turner will review and provide feedback. Roberson, the Project Director for Educational Advancement Alliance, will talk to STEM majors who are interested in attending graduate school about the HBCU-STEM (http://www.gradopp.org/ ) fellowship program. The Educational Advancement Alliance provided 40 students with fellowships to attend graduate schools last year in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and the District of Columbia. Two UVI alumnae were among those who were awarded the fellowships last year; Vanessa Malone and Digna Washington. ECS Event - Boston University Early Medical School Selection Program BUS 110 St. Thomas Campus with video conference to St. Croix EVC 401 1/28/2010 noon to 1:00pm The Associate Dean for Students and Minority Affairs at Boston University’s School of Medicine Dr. Jonathan Woodson, MD, will give his lecture presentation on the Early Medical School Selection Program. The Early Medical School Selection Program (EMSSP) is designed to provide an early and decompressed transition into the medical school curriculum through provisional acceptance into medical school at the completion of two years of undergraduate study. After earning a baccalaureate degree from the UVI, a student who performed at the prescribed level may matriculate at the Boston University School of Medicine during the next academic year. Having already fulfilled the requirements for certain medical school courses, students are able to pursue a decompressed medical school curriculum. Upon completion of the medical school requirements (normally requiring four years), the degree of Doctor of Medicine is granted by Boston University.
