June 4 U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS  — Governor Albert Bryan Jr. issued the following statement on the passing of Nevin Phillips, a beloved figure in the Virgin Islands golf community and a respected leader throughout the Caribbean: “Today, we mourn the loss of a man whose devotion to the game of golf and to the people it brings together knew no bounds. Nevin Phillips was a mentor, an organizer, and above all, a visionary who believed in the power of sport to shape lives and strengthen communities. “Nevin’s work at Mahogany Run Golf Course and his leadership of the Virgin Islands Golf Federation helped chart a new course for golf in our territory. He dedicated himself to nurturing talent, expanding access, and creating opportunities for athletes of every generation. His legacy is found in the fairways he helped preserve, the young players he encouraged, and the deep sense of purpose he brought to the sport. “As someone who shares a love for the game, I was deeply moved by Nevin’s spirit. He gave of himself fully, offering guidance to his peers, support to his friends, and encouragement to anyone willing to learn. His presence was steady, his enthusiasm contagious, and his heart open to all.” Nevin Phillips was not only a pioneer in his field but a friend to many. His kindness, humility, and quiet determination touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a lasting imprint on our islands, on the course and in the community. On behalf of the people of the Virgin Islands, I extend my sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and all who mourn his passing. We celebrate his life, honor his service, and commit to carrying forward the values he lived by. Nevin will be dearly missed and never forgotten.” ### TAGS No tags CATEGORIES Uncategorized Previous Next Comments are closed © 2026 Government of the United States Virgin Islands.
