Title 23, Virgin Islands Code, chapter 5 is amended by inserting, the following section 490; “§ 490. Serial Number Requirement for Fircarms This Act shall be known and may be cited as the “Virgin Islands Firearm Serial Number Regulation Act.” (a) All firearms manufactured, sold, transferred, or possessed in the Virgin Islands shall have a unique serial number engraved or stamped on the firearm by the manufacturer. (b) [tis unlawful for any person to possess a fircarm that does not have a serial number. (c) This section does not apply to: (1) Fircarms that were manufactured prior to the effective date of this Act if they are registered with the appropriate authority within six months of enactment of this Act. (2) Firearms that are exempt under federal law. …
