UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLAND BOARD OF TRUSTEES RESOLUTION Purpose: To approve rate increases for tuition and fees for academic years 1998-99 and 1999-2000 and to increase the student Orientation Fee for students on the St Croix Campus. os WHEREAS, the University is committed to maintaining affordable tuition rates in order to encourage the highest possible access to higher education by residents of the Virgin Islands, and WHEREAS, tuition rates have historically been set at levels which would result in a target contribution to total general operating revenues of between 15% and 25%, and WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees has supported a policy of modest annual increases in fees while keeping tuition rates affordable and competitive, and WHEREAS, the proposed increase in tuition rates would result in a revenue contribution of 19.4% to 20.7% of total operating revenues, and WHEREAS, the proposed rate increase for tuition and fees will maintain the University’s competitive price advantage over those institutions with which UVI competes most for students; WHEREAS, new students admitted to …

UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLAND BOARD OF TRUSTEES RESOLUTION Purpose: To approve rate increases for tuition and fees for academic years 1998-99 and 1999-2000 and to increase the student Orientation Fee for students on the St Croix Campus. os WHEREAS, the University is committed to maintaining affordable tuition rates in order to encourage the highest possible access to higher education by residents of the Virgin Islands, and WHEREAS, tuition rates have historically been set at levels which would result in a target contribution to total general operating revenues of between 15% and 25%, and WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees has supported a policy of modest annual increases in fees while keeping tuition rates affordable and competitive, and WHEREAS, the proposed increase in tuition rates would result in a revenue contribution of 19.4% to 20.7% of total operating revenues, and WHEREAS, the proposed rate increase for tuition and fees will maintain the University’s competitive price advantage over those institutions with which UVI competes most for students; WHEREAS, new students admitted to the St. Croix campus pay an orientation fee of $25.00 while students on the St. Thomas campus pay an orientation fee of $50.00, and, WHEREAS, orientation activities would be expanded when the new dormitory and ancillary facilities are opened on St. Croix, and WHEREAS, it is proposed that students on both campus pay a comparable rate for orientation activities, and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY: Section 1. That the Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands hereby authorizes and approves, effective with the 1998 Fall Semester, the following tuition rates and fees: Full-time Undergraduate Residents................... $2,460 Per Year Full-time Undergraduate Non-Residents ............... $7,380 Per Year Part-time Undergraduate Residents..................-. $ 82 Per Credit Part-time Undergraduate Non-Residents ............... .$ 246 Per Credit Tuition and Fees Resolution Academic Years 1998-99, 1999-2000 irate os cdo nc = ee eS «is $ 205 Per Credit Graduate Non-eeidents . 2. cc ec ie tee $ 410 Per Credit pe rn i re $ 25 Per semester Property Fee (to replace one-time Property Deposit of $50) $ 20 Per semester Registration Fee (to be paid by all Students)....... $ 20 Per semester Section 2: That the Board of Trustees hereby approves an Orientation Fee of $50.00 for students on the St. Croix campus, to take effect with the opening of the new Residence Halls on St. Croix. Section 3. Section 5. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect and after its adoption.
