This year’s National Public Works Week in the Virgin Islands will run from May 20, to May 26, 2018. The theme is Building for Today, Planning for Tomorrow, which demonstrates the stewardship of our public roadways and infrastructure, and transportation systems by Public Works professionals and personnel. The services provided by Public Works in our community are an integral part of our everyday lives. The support of an understanding and informed community is vital to the efficient operation of public works systems and programs. The health, safety, and comfort of our community greatly depends on these facilities and services. …

The quality and effectiveness of these facilities, as well as their planning, design, and construction, are vitally dependent upon the efforts and skill of Public Works officials and their personnel. NOW THEREFORE, | Kenneth E. Mapp, Governor of the Virgin Islands of the United States by virtue of the authority vested in me, do hereby proclaim the week of May 20, through May 26, 2018 as National Public Works Week in the Virgin Islands and I ask that all citizens and residents in our Territory acknowledge and thank our Public Works officials and personnel for Proclamation — National Public Works Week 2018 their contributions and support, and I call upon all residents, visitors, businesses and anyone who traverse our roads and depend on public facilities to recognize the contributions of the Department of Public Works made to ensure our Territory’s health, safety, comfort, and quality of life.
