ACTNO.8 82 8 BILL NO. 35-0223 THIRTY-FIFTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2024 An Act renaming Gamle Gade the “William A. Industrious Street” ---0--- WHEREAS, Bishop Dr. William Alfred Industrious was born on March 3, 1929, in Cane Garden Bay, Tortola, British Virgin Islands, the fifth of twelve children from the union of the late James Industrious and Carmelita Hodge-Industrious; and WHEREAS, after leaving school during the fourth standard, William or Alfred, as he was so commonly called, started to create opportunities for himself through humble beginnings of growing “sugar cane” and traveling on a donkey for the selling of crops; and WHEREAS, William’s participation in training young stubborn mules and jockeying horses gave him the exposure in his future work of teaching people from various backgrounds and cultures in the ministry; and WHEREAS, William’s early years of employment consisted of being that of a construction worker with numerous organizations. …
