UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS BOARD OF TRUSTEES RESOLUTION PURPOSE: To approve An Associate in Applied Science Degree in Process Technology WHEREAS, the University of the Virgin Islands is committed through its mission and current strategic plan to support the intellectual and skills development of the Virgin Islands workforce and to create partnerships with industry, and WHEREAS, in the Fall of 2000 under the direction of its President and Chief Operating Officer, HOVENSA L.L.C. formed a committee to address its needs for a skilled workforce with management potential, and WHEREAS, that committee determined that such needs could be addressed through collaboration with the University of the Virgin Islands through the development of an Associate in Applied Science in Process Technology, a technical program that would allow students to acquire the necessary skills, concepts, and experiences to be employed in a variety of positions within the refinery industry, and WHEREAS, the framework for an A.A.S. …

UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS BOARD OF TRUSTEES RESOLUTION PURPOSE: To approve An Associate in Applied Science Degree in Process Technology WHEREAS, the University of the Virgin Islands is committed through its mission and current strategic plan to support the intellectual and skills development of the Virgin Islands workforce and to create partnerships with industry, and WHEREAS, in the Fall of 2000 under the direction of its President and Chief Operating Officer, HOVENSA L.L.C. formed a committee to address its needs for a skilled workforce with management potential, and WHEREAS, that committee determined that such needs could be addressed through collaboration with the University of the Virgin Islands through the development of an Associate in Applied Science in Process Technology, a technical program that would allow students to acquire the necessary skills, concepts, and experiences to be employed in a variety of positions within the refinery industry, and WHEREAS, the framework for an A.A.S. degree was approved by the Board of Trustees on October 13, 2001, and WHEREAS, the A.A.S. in Process Technology meets the criteria set out in the framework of the University’s strategic plan, and WHEREAS, the faculty of the Division of Science and Mathematics, in collaboration with HOVENSA, developed and approved this proposal on October 9, 2001, and WHEREAS, the faculty of the University of the Virgin Islands approved this proposal on December 6, 2001, and WHEREAS, the UVI Cabinet approved this proposal on January 15, 2002, and WHEREAS, the President recommends the approval of the A.A.S. in Process Technology to the Board of Trustees, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT: The Board of Trustees approve an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Process Technology at the University of the Virgin Islands effective Fall, 2002. CERTIFICATION The undersigned does hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and exact copy of the resolution of the Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands adopted at its meeting on February 23, 2002 and recorded in the minutes of said meeting.
