ACT NO. .6995 BILL NO. 27-0134 TWENTY-SEVENTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2008 An Act amending title 27 Virgin Islands Code to enact the Virgin Islands Medical Practice Act ---0--- + Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: SECTION 1. Title 27 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 1, sulaghapter I, is repealed and a new subchapter | is reenacted with amendments to read as follows: “Subchapter I. Board of Medical Examiners §1. Definitions For the purposes of this subchapter- (a) “assessment program” means a formal system to evaluate a physician's competence within the scope of professional physician practice. (b) “competence” means possessing the requisite abilities and qualities (cognitive, non-cognitive, and communicative) to perform effectively in the scope of professional physician practice while adhering to professional ethical standards. (c) “dyscompetence” means failing to maintain acceptable standards of one or more areas of professional physician practice. …
