As a former UVI student, I have firsthand experience with the opportunities and challenges that UVI students face. Through UVI’s 3/2 Engineering Program, I gained a solid foundation in science and engineering. My professional career, including my work in environmental management at Diageo USVI and as the founder of Tysam Tech, has allowed me to lead projects that directly benefit the territory, improve local sustainability, and create STEM job opportunities. I am committed to leveraging my experience in both education and business to help guide UVI toward greater success. I will work to strengthen its ties with local industries, expand STEM opportunities, and ensure that UVI continues to be a catalyst for innovation and progress in the Virgin Islands. As a board member, I will advocate for policies that prioritize local talent, inclusivity, and practical solutions to the challenges our community faces. 27. In my understanding, a "Conflict of Interest" arises when an individual's personal, financial, or other interests have the potential to interfere with their ability to make impartial and objective decisions in the course of fulfilling their duties. As it pertains to the position I have been nominated for, it is crucial to ensure that decisions made are based solely on what is in the best interest of the people of the Virgin Islands, rather than being influenced by outside factors or personal gain. 30. Short-Term Goals: 1. Enhance STEM Programs: Review and provide suggestions on UVI’s STEM curricula to encourage alignment with partnering STEM Universities, industry needs, and student career readiness. 2. Strengthen Industry Connections: Utilize my experience to establish partnerships with local industries, offering internships and job opportunities for students. 3. Boost Student Support: Advocate for mentorship and career readiness programs to ensure student success both academically and professionally. 4. Promote Sustainability: Leverage my background in environmental management to support sustainability initiatives at UVI, reducing campus resource consumption. Long-Term Goals: 1. Expand Research Initiatives: Foster research in areas like environmental engineering to address regional challenges and elevate UVI’s academic standing. 2.
