BILL NO. 30-0295 THIRTIETH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2014 An Act amending title 7 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 1 adding subchapter VI pertaining to SNAP Fresh Food Farmers Market Technology Improvement Program and amending title 33 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 111 establishing the SNAP Fresh Food Farmers Market Technology Improvement Program Fund —-0--- WHEREAS, the Legislature finds that the availability of fresh food is of great benefit to the individual and collective health and well-being of Virgin Islands residents; and WHEREAS, the maintenance and further development of the local agriculture industry is of great importance to the economy of the Virgin Islands; and WHEREAS, the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), popularly known as “Food Stamps” currently provides benefits, totaling more than $57 million dollars in 2012, to over 32,000 people in the U.S. …
