University of the Virgin Islands Board of Trustees Resolution Appreciation to the U. S. Department of Interior WHEREAS, the University of the Virgin Islands has established collaborative partnerships with the U.S Department of the Interior in furtherance of its mission, core values and Vision 2012, and WHEREAS, the University of the Virgin Islands in fulfillment of its mission seeks to have facilities and programs that support our student centered focus, and WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Interior has been supportive of the University of the Virgin Islands efforts in enhancing its facilities and strengthening programs, and WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Interior provided funding assistance to the University of the Virgin Islands for the construction of the Sports and Fitness Center on the St. Thomas Campus which is a multi purpose facility of approximately 61,000 sq. ft. utilized in support of academic, administrative, varsity and student activities as well as for the support of community activities, and WHEREAS, the U.S. …

University of the Virgin Islands Board of Trustees Resolution Appreciation to the U. S. Department of Interior WHEREAS, the University of the Virgin Islands has established collaborative partnerships with the U.S Department of the Interior in furtherance of its mission, core values and Vision 2012, and WHEREAS, the University of the Virgin Islands in fulfillment of its mission seeks to have facilities and programs that support our student centered focus, and WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Interior has been supportive of the University of the Virgin Islands efforts in enhancing its facilities and strengthening programs, and WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Interior provided funding assistance to the University of the Virgin Islands for the construction of the Sports and Fitness Center on the St. Thomas Campus which is a multi purpose facility of approximately 61,000 sq. ft. utilized in support of academic, administrative, varsity and student activities as well as for the support of community activities, and WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Interior provided funding to the University for the construction of a 6,000 sq. ft. Wellness Center on the St. Thomas Campus which is intended to be a comprehensive fitness facility to meet the current and future needs of UVI students, staff and alumni, and WHEREAS, the Wellness Center enhances our ability to recruit and retain university students, and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the University of the Virgin Islands to publicly acknowledge the assistance the U.S. Department of Interior has provided to the University of the Virgin Islands in support of its mission and the economic development of the territory, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY THAT: Section 1. The Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands acknowledges the support and partnerships of the U. S. Department of the Interior in its development of student facilities, particularly the Sports and Fitness Center and the Wellness Center, and Section 2. That the Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands authorizes the President to submit this Board Resolution to the U.S. Department of Interior upon its approval and execution. CERTIFICATION The Undersigned do hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and exact copy of a resolution approved by the Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands at a meeting on November 1, 2008 as recorded in the minutes of that meeting.
