The Vulture and Wiley cut down an oil derrick, on which Billie has sought refuge, but Billie saves herself by springing to the roof of a nearby building. I look upon the advertise- ment in the papers calling a mass¢ meet- ing a farce; are the people who voted for the members in this Council to decide whether we should have one or two judges. Ist Member for Christiansted Country District (Stakemann) remarked: Mr. Chairman. According to American princi ples the people are supreme. In the United States referendum is made to the people; if the people of these island are not satisfied they have aiight to send their grievances to Washington. (Ap- plause from the Lobby.) The Chairman rang the bell and asked for order in the Lobby, 2ad Member for Christiansted Town (Caregata) remarked: Mr. Chairman [ propose that before we take the vote on this matter we give the people g chance and hear what they have to say. It is very seldnm we hear what they have to say. Let us give them a chance. The Chairman remarked: The motion before the Hous> now is, all those in favor of two District Judges for the Islands i. e. one for each Municipality vote in the affirmative. 2nd Appointed Member (Noll) remark- ed: Mr. Chairman. We do not say that it is impracticable to have two Distriet judges, but we say it would be involving additional expense. It is your money if you want these two judges you may vote for two.
