October 13 U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – Governor Albert Bryan Jr. proudly designates the month of October as “Rett Syndrome Awareness Month” in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The governor issued a proclamation Thursday emphasizing the importance of Rett Syndrome awareness and also recognized the remarkable efforts of Ella’s Hope Inc, a local nonprofit organization working to raise awareness of Rett Syndrome in the territory and helping to fund global research initiatives. Governor Bryan noted Thursday that Ella’s Hope Inc has made an indelible impact, raising awareness locally and globally while tirelessly supporting research initiatives in the quest to find a cure for Rett Syndrome. “Ella’s Hope Inc stands out as a beacon of Rett Syndrome advocacy, tirelessly working to shed light on this condition within our community and far beyond,” Governor Bryan said. The governor also recognized Ella Gaspard, a young Virgin Islander battling Rett Syndrome and namesake of Ella’s Hope Inc. as an inspiration for her incredible strength and resilience. “Ella’s story reminds us of the enduring human spirit and the importance of continuing the fight against rare diseases. Her journey symbolizes hope and perseverance in the face of adversity,” Governor Bryan said. “Ella’s Hope Inc is not just an organization; it’s a testament to the power of compassion and unwavering dedication. We are profoundly grateful for their tireless work in raising awareness and their unceasing support for research grants. Ella herself is a source of inspiration for all of us, and her strength in her battle with Rett Syndrome embodies the Virgin Islands spirit of resilience,” the Governor added. Throughout the month of October, Governor Bryan encourages all residents of the U.S. Virgin Islands to unite, raise awareness, and offer their support to organizations like Ella’s Hope Inc., noting that together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by Rett Syndrome and other rare diseases. Rett Syndrome is a rare and challenging neurological disorder, disproportionately affecting young girls.
