We have been asked to mention that the Native Brass Band will zive a con- cert on the wharf to-morrow afternoon and evening. The Merry _Juvenile and Blue Bird foot- ball elubs will play a game on Holger Danske ground tomorrow afternoon at 4.30. The funeral of Mv. Marshall Schuster was largely attended yesterday afternoon. The Rev. Fr. Griffith officiated at the funeral service. There will be a Scng Service in tha Lutheran Church tomorrow evening at 7.30. (Forthey also won the St. Thomas team in the last gam= played by a score of three to one.) Os course the Dreds and Athletics were to have played five games, but considering that the decision, at all everts, would be given to the team winning three games out of the five, it has been conceded un- necessary to play the fifth game. The Athletie Footbail team consists of many skilled%layers, players that have p'aved and know the game O. K. but man for man the Dreds are stroenger, and have evinced this fact to the ap- proval of the interested specrators who witnissed the four games played. St. Croix should have had a silver loving cup to present to the Dreadnought —the Champion Football Team, Sueh ou door games as, football, base- ball, and cricke! arve sure promoters of health. The community owes it to itself to encourage and promote the upkesp of sports. If we are too voor to purchase silver lovivz cups to presert to chan:pion teams we may appeal to Naval ofticials among us. The Nation has lost a wise and enligltened statesman and the American pecple a friend and counselor whose whole public life was inspired wita the desire to pro- mote the best interests of the Urited States and the welfare of all its citizens. His private life was marked by gentle- ness and brotherly sympathy, and by the charm of his personality he made friends of all who came in contaet with him. It is meet that the deep grief which fills the hearts of the American people should find fitting expression. Now, therefore, I, Calvin Coolidge, President of the United States of Amer- ica, do appoint Friday next, August 10, the day on which the body of the dead President will be laid in its last earthly resting place, as a day of mourning and prayer throughout the United States. # earnestly recommend the people to as- semble on that day in their respective places of divine worship, there to bew
