ActNo. 7196 Wer° pL BILL NO. 28-0202 GOVERNOR TWENTY-EIGHTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2010 An Act amending 24 V.I.C., chapter 18 relating to plant closings, amending 16 V.LC., §378 (g) relating to penalties for employers’ failure to report hiring of certain employees ct ~--0--- Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: SECTION 1. Title 24 Virgin Islands Code, section 471, 472, 473, 474 and 476 are repealed and reenacted with amendments that read as follows: §471 Definitions: As used in this chapter: qd) “Advance notification” means a written declaration by an employer, in a form and manner prescribed by the Commissioner: that a plant closing, mass layoff or relocation will occur. (2) “Affected employees” means an employee who may reasonably be expected to experience an employment loss as a consequence of a proposed plant closing, relocation or Bankruptcy Reorganization pursuant to 11 U.S.C., §101, et seg. or a mass layoff. (3) “Commissioner” means the Commissioner of the Virgin Islands Department of Labor. …
