Member Alexander poscibly had in mind the cutting out of the supertiuous when he agitated to have all the papers supplied with a copy of the '‘proceed- ings’’. When are we ever guing to get down to business in this place? Dear Mr. Editor: In view of the faet that several per- sons are of the impression that the black d g referred to in the Avis of yesterdav's date by *"Poor Light Sleeper’” and in tha Tribune of today under “‘Splinters’’, I wish to shatier the idea that this dog s my esteemed bound which ils safely shut in every night before 10 o’'clock. In- vestigution shows the disturbing dog, and enemy of “‘poor light sleeper’ to be a habitant of the barracks. Yours truly H. BERG. Danes appear to misunderstand the term poor used by "‘Poor Light Sleeper’’, and it is advised that the term means “‘stakkels’” and not netessarily "‘fattig’’. DEPARTMEN 'l'.()F HEALTH VIRGIN ISLANDS OF THE UNITED STATES St. Croix, August 21st, 1223 My Dear Mr. and Mrs. Bastian: In your sorrow over the loss of your daughter Miss lone Bastian it will per- haps be ot some comfort to you to know in what high esteem she was held by those of us who have seen her work. I can assure you from personal obser- vation that her sudden death has deeplv touched not only her intimate {riends but also thuse who knew her less int- mateiy. That her services were appreciated is probably already known to you but be- cause such appreciation wiil mean much to you I am ansxious that you stould know from me that we considered your daughter as one of our most reliable und best qualifiled Graduate nurses. She went about her tasks cheerfully and quietly with no effort toward display but always accomplishing in a satisfac- tory manner whatzaver she set out to do.
