ACTNO. 8406 BILL NO. 33-0425 THIRTY-THIRD LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2020 An Act renaming the South Side Road on St. John “The Rudolph A. ‘Pimpy’ Thomas, Jr. Road” ---0--- WHEREAS, Rudolph A. Thomas, Jr. ,affectionately known as “Pimpy” ,was born on St. John on July 27, 1940, and was the ninth of thirteen siblings; and WHEREAS, Mr. Thomas served in the United States Army from November 1960, to October 1962, as an automobile mechanic; and WHEREAS, Mr. Thomas mastered several other skills and trades, such as musician, comedian, carpenter, volunteer firefighter, and entrepreneur; and WHEREAS, Mr. Thomas served as a police officer in the Crime Prevention Bureau; and WHEREAS, along with his brothers, Roy Smith, Albert Smith, Aubrey Thomas, Randolph Thomas, and Alphonse Powell, he formed a band called the “Jealous Sounds” in which he sang and played the congas and the cowbell at popular spots on St. John, such as Caneel Bay Resort, The Upper Deck, The Kite, and Fred’s in Coral Bay-Later Skinny Legs; and WHEREAS, Mr. …
