ACT NO, 7986 BILL NO. 31-0372 THIRTY-FIRST LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2016 An Act temporarily raising the mandatory retirement age for police officers, firefighters and prison guards ---0--- Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: SECTION IL. Notwithstanding 3 V.I.C. §530 (g), after attaining the age of 55, police officers, firefighters, and correction officers may be continued in the government service until they attain the age of 63 years if the employee submits annually to the Director of Personnel the results of an annual physical examination and psychological examination performed by a practitioner licensed to perform the respective examination, which are certified by both the practitioner and the Commissioner of Health indicating that the employee is physically and mentally able to continue in the position. SECTION 2. Section 1 expires October 01, 2021.
