ACT NO, 7629 BILL NO. 30-0348 THIRTIETH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2014 An Act amending title 17 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 7 adding section 61a and repealing section 61 —0--- Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: SECTION 1. Title 17 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 7 is amended by adding section 61a, which reads as follows: “861a. (a) The school year must begin no earlier than the first Tuesday after the first Monday in August and end no later than the-second Friday in June. (b) The Department of Education, pursuant to title 24 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 14, shall set the school calendar. (c) The school calendar under subsection (b) must include no less than 1080 hours of pupil instruction.” SECTION 2. Title 17 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 1, section 6, is repealed.
