Box 1690 St. Thomas, VI! 00804 Dear Senate President Potter: The Virgin Islands Public Broadcasting System (WTJX) located at Plot numbers 36 & 37, Estate Richmond, St. Croix is seeking a rezoning to build rooms in the southwest area on the top floor of the station’s office and studio for use of our staff and visiting personnel/contractors. Governor Albert Bryan Jr. awarded a Capital Improvement Grant for this project which is funded through the U.S. Department of Interior — Office of Insular Affairs. The scope of the project provides for four rooms which employees will utilize to ride out storms and any other disaster so that we can continuously provide the public with information through our stations. It also serves as a cost savings for visiting staff from St. Thomas who will occupy the rooms instead of hotels. This benefits our operations as our senior technical personnel reside on St. Thomas — the Director of Engineering, Technology Systems Officer, and Production Manager are stationed on St. Thomas. Often times it is a financial burden for these technical staffers to stay long enough on St. Croix to support the television and radio operations on the island. The provisions of these rooms will allow for better training of personnel and evaluation and maintenance of systems. The rooms will also serve as green rooms for our guests who participate in debates, make appearances, etc. on our various television programs. ST. CROIX P.O.
