ACTNO.8 865 BILL NO. 35-0301 THIRTY-FIFTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2024 An Act amending title 34 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 8, section 206(a) by requiring the Government of the Virgin Islands to bear the cost of forensic medical exams for victims of rape, or unlawful sexual contact, in any degree, regardless of whether the victim cooperates with law enforcement or has health insurance ---0--- Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: SECTION 1. Title 34 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 8, section 206, subsection (a) is stricken, and a new subsection (a) is inserted as follows: “(a) The Government of the Virgin Islands shall pay for forensic medical examinations conducted on victims, including a child victim of rape, or unlawful sexual contact in any degree, without regard to whether the victim cooperates with law enforcement, or has health insurance.” Thus passed by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands on July 22, 2024.
