September 10 U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS—Governor Albert Bryan Jr. issued a proclamation commemorating September 11, 2019, as “Patriot Day: A Day of Remembrance in the United States Virgin Islands” to honor the men and women lost in the September 11, 2001 terror attacks. Governor Bryan, on Tuesday, reflected on the lives of the Virgin Islanders lost in the attacks and during the ensuing global war on terror and encouraged the greater Virgin Islands community to keep the memory of those individuals near and also to keep their surviving loved ones in their prayers on this solemn occasion. “The best way to honor the victims of that fateful day is never to forget them, and never to forget the loved ones they have left behind,” said Governor Bryan. “September 11, 2001, has impacted the everyday lives of us all,” the governor continued before stating, “It has changed the way we travel and our nation’s foreign policy priorities.” “As the Commander in Chief of our Virgin Islands Air and Army National Guard, I am ever cognizant of the impact this day has had and continues to have on our Virgin Islands servicemen and women and their families, and cognizant of the fact we have now crossed the threshold of sending young men and women born after September 11, 2001, to theater to fight the global war on terror,” said Governor Bryan. “I ask the people of the U.S. Virgin Islands to take a moment to remember our brothers and sisters lost that day and to keep their loved ones, and our servicemen and women overseas in your thoughts and prayers,” the governor added. #### TAGS No tags CATEGORIES Uncategorized Previous Next Comments are closed © 2026 Government of the United States Virgin Islands.
