ACT NO, %325 BILL NO. 29-0206 TWENTY-NINTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2011 An Act requiring all banking/financial institutions operating in the Territory to cash social security checks even if the payee does not have a bank account with that particular institution ---0--- Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: SECTION 1. Title 9, chapter 11 is amended by adding section 132 to read as follows: “§ 132. Check Cashing Every financial institution authorized to do business in the Territory shall cash any properly endorsed retirement check issued by the United States Virgin Islands Government Employees Retirement System and any social security check issued by the United States Government without regard to whether the payee has an established account with the institution at which the check is presented. The payee must present two United States Government issued photo identifications.” Thus passed by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands on October 27, 2011. …
