Hodge posthumously for her pioneering in the athletic field of tennis and as a mentor for young ladies in the pursuit of the sport of tennis and naming the tennis courts in Sub Base in her honor : WHEREAS, Ms. Doris E. Hodge was born on the island of St. Thomas on October 8, 1934, to the late Arthur Hodge and Sarah Lucinda Hodge; and WHEREAS, Ms. Doris E. Hodge attended elementary school on the island of St. Thomas and graduated from the Charlotte Amalie High School in 1952; and WHEREAS, Ms. Doris E. Hodge graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1957 from the Tuskegee Institute, School of Education; and WHEREAS, Ms. Doris E. Hodge, while at Tuskegee Institute, served as secretary of the Junior Counselors Organization and was a member of the Canterbury Club, the Chairman of the Program Committee, the Senior Counselors, the Tennis Varsity and the Tuskeana Staff; and WHEREAS, Ms. Doris E.
