Upon police’s arrival on the scene they discovered the body of an unresponsive adult male, who was later identified as 31-year-old, Akeem A. Javois, laying on the ground in front of the house. Investigators learned that Mr. Javois came to the house of the suspect and a verbal exchange occurred between them. The suspect discharged his unlicensed firearm striking Javois once, killing him. …

The suspect, 46-year-old Amos Matthew, was arrested and charged with Murder in the First Degree, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Aiming and Pointing of a Firearm. His bail was set by chart at $1,000,000.00, he was unable to post bond and was remanded to the John Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending Advise of Rights. ###
