Executive Order No. 2--1922, WHEREAS, the fpreser;t methods of slaughtering animals in the Virgin Is- lands for market purposes, are, in mzny instances unnecessarily cruel and inhu- mane; and WHEREAS, the present method of ty- ing animals in vehicles for transport to slaughter and for other purposes is like- wise cruel and inhumane; NO » THEREFORE, |, SUMNERE. W. KITTELLE, Governor of the Virgin Is- lands of the United States, do hereby direct that all animals must be quickly and humanely stunned before they are killed for the purposes above mentioned. And it is further directed that cruel methods of tying animals in vehicles for transport be not employed. The Department of Police will have jurisdiction in the énforcement of this Order.
